Finding a University Program That Fits | stedtnitz. design your life

When your final high school exams are on the horizon, you normally also embark on finding a university program that fits. Making a choice involves answering several key questions: What would I like to study? Is there a course of study that satisfies all of my core interests? What am I even interested in? What are my strengths? Am I looking for a theoretical or a practical program? In which city? Do I want to study abroad? What makes sense financially? What kind of work opportunities will this open up for me?

Answering these questions can be challenging. Especially when you’re not familiar with the varied university programs on offer. For example, have you ever heard of Information Science? Or Cultural Anthropology? Maybe those are exactly the programs that you’re looking for.

One way to discover what’s available is some in-depth internet research. Nowadays, most university websites offer detailed insights on their programs. Information such as admission requirements, program details, alumni accounts and career opportunities is readily available. Sometimes, you’ll even find entire informational brochures for download. Additionally, you can use platforms like www.berufsberatung.ch, which feature an in-depth overview of all of the higher education programs available in Switzerland. Also, most universities and colleges offer tours or open houses to give you a better sense of what they’re all about. A visit is worth it in any case, even if it’s just to get a sense of the atmosphere of the school. If you’ve missed the official open house days, you can often also just sneak into a lecture to get a feel for a program you’re interested in.

But even once you’ve gone through the internet research process and asked around, you still may not be sure about which course of study you want to embark on. On the one hand, there’s the possibility that you may have overlooked the one that’s just right for you. On the other, you may not be fully aware of your strengths and interests, this is something we often witness with our clients. At this point, it can be helpful to have a career coaching session with an experienced professional, especially with someone who takes into account your life goals overall. This often eases the process of finding a university program that fits you and your personality type.

In any case, delving into some in-depth exploration beforehand, either with a professional or alone, will heighten your chances of finding joy and success during your studies.
